Local Involvement

Part of our vision is to be a Christ-centered community where people are equipped and sent out to love their neighbors.  Here are some of the ways in which we seek to live that out.

Community Table

This table was crafted to help us extend hospitality to our community.  It is a 16 ft portable table that can seat up to twenty people.  Our hope is to eat, laugh, and develop meaningful relationships all across our city in all types of settings.  Email Meghan if you would like to host a table gathering for friends, co-workers, or neighbors.

The table ought to be the primary symbol of the Christian gathering.  It represents hospitality, inclusivity, generosity, and grace.  In many churches today, I suppose, the primary symbol might be the pulpit or the screen.  These churches seem to believe that Jesus said, "Every time you meet together, listen to a sermon and sing."  Now, I'm not against sermons or singing, but if we took Jesus' directive seriously, we'd know that the table is a better metaphor for Christian worship.   -Michael Frost

INFLATABLES

Since our inception in 2010, we have used our commercial sized inflatables to throw block parties, show up at community events, and party with local schools.  If you would like Bridge at your next community event please email Meghan.

MOVIES IN THE PARK

Each summer we put on Movies in the Park at Heritage Park.  The family-friendly movies start at dark and are free to the public.  Check our website or facebook page at the beginning of the summer for details.

SHINE PROM

Every May we throw a prom style event for those with special needs.  It's our favorite night of the year filled with dinner, music, dancing, games, and fellowship for our guests.  Visit our SHINE page for more details.

Dollar Club

We challenge our congregation to add an extra $1 to their offering each week.  Each month we count up our attendance ($1 per head) and set aside that money to meet needs that our church notices in the community.

HELP THE OX

HTO was inspired by Jesus' words in Matthew 12:12 and Luke 14:5.  In sort of a fun way we are taking Jesus' teaching and applying it to our Sunday gatherings.  Several times through the year we will forego our normal gathering in order to meet some "ox-sized" needs and invest in our children.  Instead of attending our normal service we go out and serve our community.  In addition, we provide a fun-filled "VBS" type format for all the elementary kids at Westview.
